Why Should We Recycle?

Help Reverse Climate Change - Help Save the Environment

It is estimated that 37.4 million tons of recyclables are put in the trash by single family households, if they were recycled it would reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 96 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, conserve an annual energy equivalent of 154 million barrels of oil, and achieve the equivalent of taking more than 20 million cars off U.S. highways.

Why Recycle? It's Easy. It's good for us. Doesn't cost much. It just makes sense.

We Make Recycling Easy

The "All in One Bin"

Curbside recycling is easy with RedFish. We give you a bin and will pick up your recycling biweekly.  Simply throw all of your recyclables into one bin and we’ll do the sorting for you.

How it works:

1. Collect paper, cardboard, plastic and metal items for recycling – It all goes in one bin.

2. Place your recycling in the bins we provide.

3. The RedFish Truck will pick it up outside your house in your red bin on your designated pick up day.

What Happens to My Recyclables?

Behind the Scenes

Once we pick up your recycling, the recyclable waste is brought to our single stream processing facility and dumped on the floor into one big pile. The recyclables travel along a conveyor belt into sorting lines where RedFish Recycling staff pick off a designated material on both sides of the sort line (ex. one person picks off cardboard, the next person picks off plastic, the next person picks off metal, etc.). Each material is put into a dumpster and is packed into 1,200 pound bales. These large bales of sorted recyclable materials are sent to paper mills, plastic mills, and metal processing plants. Any unrecyclable materials are considered waste and the trash continues down the conveyor belt for proper waste disposal.

So what happens once those 1200 pound bales leave RedFish’s facility?
